Biography
André was born in Sudbury, Northern Ontario Canada, raised in Azilda and now resides in Sturgeon Falls. He picked up the guitar at a young age while being influenced and surrounded by a musical family and friends that played traditional country, traditional fiddle, great singers and amazing guitar players; music became his passion. He's also a big fan of rock music; AC/DC, ZZTop and Eddy VanHalen etc... just to mention a few.
Through the years André has played his guitar and sang at festivals, fund-raisers, theaters and bars across Canada. He’s had the opportunity to play music with Smiley Bates, Graham Townsend and was the lead guitarist for Jacinthe Trudeau, one of Canada's best violinist and was part of her 1998 Fiddle Entertainer of the year Championship. In 2000, André recorded his first guitar flat-picking instrumental CD 'A Long Time Comin', which fans, are still inquiring about. That same year he was invited to the “ Aboriginal Juno Awards ” and fired up his guitar at the Sky Dome. In 2001 André was invited to the “ Canadian Juno Awards ” and performed at the post party in Hamilton.
André teamed up with me in 2005 to recorded another astonishing CD "DEEP-ROOTED" in his recording studio. In 2006 he's recorded two more flatpicking Cd's "My Last Set of Strings & Pickin' With Dynamite" and also proud to have recorded a CD with his father "A Métis Tradition" These CD are available at http://andregiroux.com On-line Store.
He now enjoys performing high-energy bluegrass, flatpicking and traditional country music. His repertoire of guitar instrumental reels, waltzes, jigs, two steps, boogies, bluegrass, country songs etc… and 27 of his originals is a never-ending list. In the past 15 years, I have witnessed that no matter if the audience is of 1 or 15,000 people, André plays his guitar and sings with his heart and soul this explains the emotions he brings out in people. The speed and the clean sound of his guitar amazes everyone who sees André's performances. He surely is a natural entertainer with quite the sense of humor.
